About Us:

We are the dynamic class of 1988 from Booker T. Washington Senior High School and the High School for Engineering Professions with 265 graduating seniors.

BTW is located in North Houston at 119 East 39th Street. The school is located in the neighborhood of Studewood.  Our class consists of students from M. C. Williams, F. M. Black, Hamilton, and Ruby S. Clifton Middle Schools. The school housed a magnet program which had an emphasis on math and science and it consisted of students from the Houston Metropolitan Area including Missouri City, Texas.

Our principal was the late Franklin D. Wesley who was instrumental in starting the HSEP magnet program located “upstairs” with the green hallway.  The late Herman Mabrie and Mr. Erwin were the assistant principals during our tenure from 1984 – 1988.  We were known for our illustrious Baby Ocean of Soul Marching band led by “Pops” Bigsby who continued the tradition of female drum majors and the “kick pleat” uniforms that resembled attire from the late 1970’s bell bottoms.

Our senior year we went to the play-offs during football season singing the infamous “Going to the Dome” where we played Jack Yates Senior High School.  We were a class known for starting traditions and not following.  We were the class that started the panoramic pictures of the senior class and we had the first off campus parties as fundraisers for our senior prom.

Our prom theme was “Make It Last Forever” by Keith Sweat which has carried over to our 20 year reunion theme.  We won the perfect attendance award each year in which we were awarded a pizza party.

There has been no other class like ours with more than 70% of our class going to college or the armed services.  We have amongst our ranks business owners in various areas from janitorial services, hair professionals, real estate to name a few, lawyers, doctors, accountants, engineers, military professionals, law enforcement agents, social workers, nurses, authors, film producers, and educators.

We are proud to say we are the CLASS of 1988 and especially proud to say we are from “Booker T”.
